Every sauna starts with a red cedar hot room and a wood-fired stove. The rest is up to you. Choose from many sizes, on a trailer or as a permanent build. Add a dressing room or a porch, bring in natural light with windows, add sliding vents for airflow, upgrade to a Kuuma or Nippa stove, and pick your power source from solar or shore. How long does it take to build a custom sauna?
Once we’ve finalized your specifications, most builds take a few weeks to complete. Timelines can shift depending on materials and our current schedule, so we’ll give you a realistic estimate for your specific build before we get started.
How much does a custom sauna cost?
As a reference, our standard 10 foot Essential Sauna starts at $14,900 and includes a red cedar steam room, wood-fired stove, benches, exterior siding, and a heavy duty trailer. Smaller and larger sizes are available, and add ons like a dressing room, extra windows, upgraded stoves, and solar or shore power shape the final price. Do I need a permit?
It depends on where you live and which sauna you choose. Mobile saunas on a trailer typically don’t require a building permit since they’re not a permanent structure. A stationary outdoor sauna may need one depending on your city or county rules. A quick call to your local building office will give you a clear answer, and we’re happy to talk through your setup before you order.
Can I see the sauna before buying?
Yes. We have physical locations in Golden Valley, Cokato, and Brimson where you can come and see the sauna up close. You can also rent one first and apply your rental fees toward the final purchase price.
How do I get power to my sauna?
The heat itself needs no power at all, since the wood-fired stove does all the work. For lighting and accessories, you can choose solar power, shore power, or both. Solar keeps your sauna fully off grid, perfect for a cabin, the lake, or anywhere without an outlet nearby. Shore power lets you plug in at home for steady power year round. We’ll help you pick the right setup for where your sauna will live.
Can I pour water on my sauna stove?
Yes, that’s the heart of a real Finnish sauna. Our wood-fired stoves are topped with sauna stones made for it. Ladle water over the hot stones and they release a wave of soft steam, what the Finns call löyly, that raises the humidity and makes the heat feel deeper. Pour as much or as little as you like to find your sweet spot.
How long does it take for my sauna to heat up?
Most sessions are ready in about 30-45 minutes. Light the stove, let the fire build, and the steam room climbs to a true Finnish sauna temperature of 170 to 190 degrees.
How do I maintain my sauna after delivery?
We walk you through everything you need to know before we leave. General maintenance is straightforward and we are always available if you have questions down the line.
